92. Captain Ephraim

on 13 Mar 1736/37 in Weston, Middlesex Co, MA.62,63 or 20 Sep 1741 He lived Stowe,
MA about 1776. He lived Landaff, NY before 1785. He was
buried in Mar 1820 in Salmon Hole Cemetery, Lisbon Falls, NH. He
died on 20 Mar 1820 in Lisbon, Grafton Co, NH. He was a Lieutenant
and Captain and fought in the Battle of Bunker Hill. His name is on the Bunker
Hill Monument. Captain Ephraim Corey was of Stow, and his company had men from
several towns. He was a Captain in Col. William Prescott's Regiment, 5th Massachestts
Regiment. He served from May 1775 until Oct 1777.
According to the history of Landaff, NH, Capt. Ephraim was residing in Landaff
before 1785. He built the first grist mill in the town. He is listed as residing
in Landaff, NH for both the 1790 and 1800 U.S. Federal Census.
Guy S. Fix gathered this info from a manuscript of the Town of Lisbon History
of about 1909 but never published: "....he (Capt Ephraim) built the lst
grist mill in Landaf, at the mouth of Landaff brook. He m. Lois Chase, b. in
Hartland, Conn & moved to Bath, He d.in Lisbon Mar 20, 1820." Then after
listing children of lst wife, where Ephraim Jr is listed as "No. IX b.
(blank) m. Nancy Caswell dau of Jedediah". Ephraim Jr is listed in other
sources as No. 4 in Capt Epraim's 1st marriage.
Captain Ephraim Corey and Susanah Stevens had marriage banns published on
10 Nov 1764 in Stowe, Middlesex Co, MA. They were married about Nov
1764 in Stowe, Middlesex Co, MA. Susanah Stevens
(daughter of Captain Samuel Stevens and Sarah Rice) was born about 1741.
She was buried in Landaff, Grafton Co, NH. Captain Ephraim Corey
and Susanah Stevens had the following children:
