E. Allen. Walter E. Allen and Marrian Ganter were married
on 1 Oct 1929. home of her parents by Rev. Edgar O. Spaven, pastor
of Bethany Methodist church.
Marrian Ganter
(daughter of George F. Ganter and Catherine M. Ganter) was born on 21 Jun 1908.
She died in 1955 in Community Hosptial, West Carthage, Jefferson Co, NY.
4:30 on Friday of injuries recieved about 8:15 Friday morning when the car she
was driving let the icy pavement of the Carthage-Wilna road, two miles north
of Carthage, and rolled over into the ditch. Her death was attributed to a fracture
of the skull, crushing injuries of the right side of the chest and shock. She
had apparently been thrown from her car. The funeral for she was held Monday
at 2:00pm in Carthage, Jefferson Co, NY, Cleveland Funeral Home.
Rev. Dr. Harry C. Campell, pastor of the First Methodist church of Carthage,
officated.
The fram on which she was born is now owned by her bother George F. Ganter.
She came to Watertown with her parents 1 Mar 1919. She attended shool first
in the twon of Pamelia and later attended the Academy Street schoola and the
Watertown High school.
For about 13 years after her graduation from high school in 1926, she was employed
in the offices of the Agricultural Insureance company.
Mr. and Mrs. Allen lived in this city until 1939 when they moved to Carthage-Wilna
road, taking over the management of the restaurant, then known as "Y"
restaurant. They operated the business unitl 1951.
For two and a half years later Mrs. Allen was employed as a general cleark in
the office of the Braman Manufacturing company, Carthage. In July, 1954, she
began her duties as
secretary to Francis B. Weeks, the clerk and purchasing agent for the Carthage
Central school system.
