404. Photo Eunice Cory88,136 was born in Sep 1810 in Derby Line, Orleans Co, VT. Birth date is unknow, but born in VT. The Septermber 1810 birthdate is from Corys of Americana, but can not be confirmed. She died on 2 Apr 1887 in KS. She was buried after 2 Apr 1887 in Leanna Cenmetery, Chanute, Neosho Co, KS. Eunice Cory, named a daughter for her mother, Mary Bailey. In Corys of America, Al Bertus Cory got the Patterson surname correct, but his informant got the other name mixed up with Mary Bailey Patterson's husband, A.W. Reed.

Mary Lou Veal, found a picture of Dwight Cory on line. He is the son of Orin Cory, brother of Eunice. Her nephew, Dwight, looks enough like her to be her son.

After Ansel's death, Eunice married for a second time to John Johnson. They are listed on the 1850 census in Vinton Co, OH (her name is given as "Unis" and age was 38). Eunice was living in York Twp, Van Wert Co, OH with Catherine Knapp in 1880 and Catherine's two children, Wallace and Josephine (1880 census). Eventually she moved to Leanna, Kansas and lived with Aaron Reed and Mary Bailey Patterson (her daughter).

Eunice Cory and Ansel Patterson Jr. were married on 5 Feb 1828 in VT. Ansel Patterson Jr.88,143,144 (son of Ansel Patterson and Lucina Colton) was born about 1800 in VT. He died after 25 Jun 1841 in Gallia (now Vinton) Co, OH.
It is not known when Ansel and Eunice moved to Ohio, but they may have lived in Richland Township, Vinton Co, which was formed in 1850 from 5 other counties. The county seat is McAuthur.

Ansel Patterson is found in a listing of "Entrymen on Lands" in Jackson Co, OH. Sale date was 22 April 1839 in Gallia County for 40.45 acres. Another 40 acres of land was purchased by Ansel on 25 June 1841 and recorded at the Land Office in Chillicothe (source: Certificate #11149 from the General Land Office). The legal land description showed it was part of the Ohio River Survey (Act of 24 April 1820), 6N Township, 18W Range, Section #1. On this land record, he is listed as "of Gallia County, Ohio."
