9. John Cory III¹ was born on 3 Feb 1674 in Huntington, Suffolk Co, Long Island, NY. He died on 30 Dec 1721 in Elizabethtown, Essex Co, NJ. BIOGRAPHY
John's will dated 3 March 1720 was filed at Taunton, Ma . Proved at Elizabethtown, NJ 7 January 1723. Appoints his wife Priscilla as Executrix, mentions sons Elnathan, John, Joseph and Benjamin. Daughters Mary and Hannah. Recorded Book Liber A of Wills Page 282 Essex Co NJ. He left Huntington after 1696 and prior to 1700. Records show that John bought 63 acres of land from David Watkins in 1719 about 2.5 miles from Westfield. He resided on that land until his death in 1723. By his Will he conveyed that land to John IV his son. His wife Priscilla's Will, was dated 6 March 1722 recorded Book Liber A of wills page 269 Essex Co NJ proved 17 December 1723. Mentions son Elnathan, daughters Anna Cory, Mary (Cory) Hampton, Others, Son-in-law Andrew Hampton. Witnesses, Anthony Little, Mary and William Strayhom. John III received the greate booke from his father and passed it on to his son Elnathan.
